This piece was inspired by recent discoveries made by a team of scientists exploring the uncharted waters of the Indian Ocean. While mapping giant underwater mountains, they encountered a multitude of previously unknown deep-sea creatures decked out with all kinds of bizarre features including twinkling, bioluminescent organs, velvety skin, and glassy fangs.

I searched for bizarrely shaped/textured pearls and seaweed colored gemstones. The goal was to create something mysterious, fresh, and alive - like one of those extraordinary new discoveries.
