Noguchi’s Playground Series

This series is inspired by Isamu Noguchi’s playground work, particularly his 1986 sculpture, Slide Mantra. His lyrical sculpture functions as a slide with steps winding up the back, which descend into a beautiful spiral. It embodies his belief that play can lead to a new appreciation of sculpture.

The Slide Bangle explores spiraling shells and lily spathe forms. The recess areas have a beautiful patina ranging from golden brown to green. I see jewelry as sculpture; this piece stands on its own when off the wrist. It is a bold, mysterious bangle that invites you to explore every angle.
