Banksia Design Series

This series is inspired by the Australian Banksia Pod. In regions prone to fire, many plants evolve remarkable adaptions to ensure their survival. One such adaption includes the ability to harness the heat and smoke of fires to help disperse seeds. The Banksia rely on both fire and water, as the follicles only split open to release their seeds after they’ve been burned by fire and soaked by the rains that follow. These clustered openings, or seed chambers, are visually captivating and an absolute joy to carve and arrange in different designs. This series will continue to evolve and grow as I’m consistently captivated by the possibilities of this curious pod.
