Styling

Hair sticks are versatile tools and adornments. For medium to long hair, they secure a French twist, bun, or half-up style in seconds. Slide the stick through a coil and catch a small section of hair close to the head for a firm, comfortable hold. Wear a single Slide or Spire stick for everyday utility; pair two contrasting designs for a ceremony or bridal occasion. Let the polished edge sit just proud of the hair so it reflects and moves with you.


Caring

Bronze and silver develop a natural patina over time—part of their charm. Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear; avoid water, hair sprays, and harsh chemicals. Patina will deepen in recesses; bright edges may be re-buffed with a polishing cloth as desired.

Design Philosophy

“Functional objects can also be intimate sculptures. When I carve, I think about the space around and within the form, contrasting varied textures and surface finishes, the interplay of light and shadow, and positive and negative space, to engage the sense of touch. There are multiple vantage points, each angle reveals a new detail or relationship within the piece—the line of a shell, the curve of a branch—so the ritual of getting ready becomes a moment of joy and discovery.”

Gather hair into a coil or twist. Insert the stick through a small section of hair, angle it 180°, then slide it back through the coil. The tension between the hair and the head creates the hold..

Yes—KMJ sticks are designed for all hair types. Correctly anchored, a single stick will hold most buns or twists. For active days, use two sticks or add a small elastic first, and thread the stick in after.
