Duo Ring - Silver

A version of this ring was part of Kirsten's first cast collection, reimagined for today with a lighter touch and more refined detail. It carries the beautiful memories of collecting shells on the beaches of Block Island while her brother and father fished off the shore. She and her mother would build elaborate mermaid lagoons in the sand, covered with shells, rocks, seaweed and wildflowers, then watch the tide reclaim them. The ring holds that memory in two organic shell forms nestled atop the finger.

Cast in sterling silver using the lost-wax method, the ring begins as a wax model hand-carved at the bench. The U-shaped band hugs the finger comfortably and keeps it from spinning, allowing the shell duo to appear as though they have effortlessly settled into place. The polished edges catch the light and the oxidized recess areas add depth to the carving.

What is the story behind the Duo Ring?

Why the U-shaped band?
The U-shape was designed to hug the finger comfortably and prevent the ring from spinning, so the sculptural shell duo always sits correctly on top. The band feels secure without being tight.
