Feast Cuff Bracelet - Yellow Bronze
Burnished hummingbird beak shapes capture movement, invoking the abstracted bird's heads within the framework of brutalist geometry, leading the eye down into the verdant green tones of the patina, like an ancient building being engulfed by nature. Substantial in scale without becoming heavy, the cuff sits comfortably around the wrist.
Cast in yellow bronze using the lost-wax method, the cuff begins as a wax model hand-carved at the bench. Each cast piece is refined through filing and selective burnishing. The cuff carries a silky brushed finish, while the beaks are polished to a bright mirror finish. Recessed areas receive a verdigris patina that deepens with wear.
The cuff design started as an architectural study, but the carved forms soon resembled hummingbird heads, so Kirsten let that lead her. Her muse was a tiny hummingbird visiting the studio deck to feast on blooming succulents in a secret garden of sweet blooms. Years earlier, she had read a study on the nectar-transport mechanics of hummingbird tongues. The carved "mustache" shape at the base of each beak comes from the cross-section of those cylindrical tongue grooves — a small physics reference held inside a sculptural object. The hollow patinated areas of the cuff are a nod to their nest shapes, built like little cups, woven together with twigs, leaves and bits of lichen. An ode to the hummingbird and the powerful little pollinator's place in nature.

FAQ
What inspired the Feast Cuff design?
Kirsten began with brutalist architecture in mind, but the carved forms came to resemble hummingbird heads, so she followed that direction. The "mustache" shape at the base of each beak references the cross-section of a hummingbird's cylindrical tongue grooves, drawn from research on the physics of nectar transport.
Is this cuff comfortable for daily wear?
Yes. Despite its presence, the cuff is not heavy, and some collectors wear one on each wrist.
