Particle Earrings - Silver

Tiny particle clusters hand-carved in wax and then cast in silver. The piece was inspired by the Cosmos TV Series, drawing on particle physics, atoms, molecules — the smallest forms of matter that serve as the basic building blocks of the material world. The black oxidation creates strong contrast against the highly polished spheres, making this miniature geometry read with depth.

Cast in sterling silver using the lost-wax method, each earring begins as a wax model hand-carved at the bench. The clustered spheres catch light differently from each angle, while the oxidized recessed areas hold shadow. Earring posts and backs are sterling silver.

What is the inspiration?
This piece is inspired by particle physics — atoms, molecules, and the smallest forms of matter. Reducing the basic building blocks of the universe to a wearable scale, where tiny geometry becomes a sculptural object.

How does the oxidation hold up over time?
The black oxidation will mellow with handling and time. The polished sphere high points will stay bright and may develop subtle patina with extended wear, settling into a softer overall surface.
