These pod cluster earrings, also reminiscent of barnacles, were inspired by the round seed capsule of the Callistemon tree, also known as Bottlebrush. These drought-resistant trees are plentiful in my neighborhood and their striking red flowers attract all kinds of pollinators.

The design is carved in wax, cast, and finished with a high polish. The interior of the pods is oxidized with a black patina so the design really stands out on your ear. I wanted to highlight the mighty little seed capsule, distilling nature’s diversity of textures, forms, and beautiful imperfections.
