X-Large Banksia Cuff Bracelet - Silver

A striking cuff bracelet, bold yet delicate due to its intricately carved open structure. Kirsten's work distills and reinterprets nature's diverse patterns, textures, forms and imperfections. This light and airy design is a real stunner.

Cast in sterling silver using the lost-wax method, the cuff begins as a wax model hand-carved at the bench. The highly polished edges of the lattice catch the light as the wrist moves.

In regions prone to fire, many plants and trees evolve remarkable adaptations that ensure the survival of their species. The banksia relies on both fire and water, its follicles split open to release seeds only after they are burned by fire and then soaked by the rains that follow. These clustered seed chambers inspired several pieces in the collection.

Is the open lattice fragile?
The lattice is more substantial than it appears. The cast silver form is delicate in appearance, but strong in structure.

Should I choose the brushed or oxidized finish?
The brushed finish reads bright and clean, letting the open lattice catch light directly. The oxidized finish offers a moody gray-black tone that emphasizes the carved relief. Both will mellow naturally over time.
